Touring the Ibbankatuwa Megalithic Burial Site

The Ibbankatuwa burial ground is among 180 prehistoric archaeological sites discovered in Sri Lanka. It contains 42 clusters of tombs constructed with rough stone slabs. More than 400 graves have been excavated, uncovering both skeletal remains and evidence of cremation. Archaeologists have also found burial items such as pottery, metal objects made of iron and copper, gold ornaments, beads, necklaces, and even gemstones originating from India.
