Ceylon Tea Museum – Hantane

Located 4 km south of Kandy along the Hantane route, this museum is set within the historic 1925 Hantana Tea Factory. After lying abandoned for nearly ten years, the site underwent extensive renovations and now showcases a fascinating collection dedicated to tea pioneers like James Taylor and Thomas Lipton, along with a treasure trove of vintage tea-processing equipment.

Visitors can enjoy a guided tour—though it sometimes feels more like a walk-through demonstration. The highlight is a complimentary cup of tea served in the tearoom on the top floor, offering a charming and immersive experience. Undoubtedly, this museum is one of Kandy’s must-visit attractions.
