Passikudah

Passikudah boasts a serene coastline that draws travelers seeking a peaceful tropical escape. Its beach stretches extensively, with soft white sands and gentle, lapping waves that create a tranquil atmosphere. The bay is home to a remarkable coral reef teeming with colorful tropical fish. This shallow reef extends far into the sea and connects with the reefs at nearby Kalkudah, forming one of the region’s most notable reef ecosystems. Efforts are currently underway to designate it as a Marine Sanctuary.

Known as one of the safest beaches in Sri Lanka, Passikudah offers perfect conditions for a variety of water-based activities. Visitors can enjoy surfing, snorkeling, diving, windsurfing, water skiing, kite surfing, and more, making it a haven for aquatic adventure.

Batticaloa Lighthouse

Constructed by the British in 1913, the Batticaloa Lighthouse has long guided ships safely to shore. Today, it still stands proudly, offering panoramic views that captivate all who climb to the top.

Singing Fish and Kallady Bridge

Kallady Bridge, Sri Lanka’s oldest and longest iron bridge, is steeped in local legend. It is said that the mysterious sounds of “singing fish” can be heard from the waters beneath the bridge, adding an enchanting touch to the area.
